pond, looking well worn, but had a few and caught a

 few fish as well. I,ve seen a few baits come and

go in the few years I,ve been at this, cat food

 paste , good old kit-e-kat.

Tied and tried plenty of rigs. Seen plenty of

things come then go then come again. Very

few things are origional ideas, most ideas have

been  tried before in   some space of time.

I think it was 1972/3 that I was over great yarmouth, fishing,     on the ilse of wiget, that

 I was watching this old boy fishing off the end of the pier. Watching him that day

 I learnt something to my advantage that I still use till this day. His line   just went

straight down off the top of his rod , down the edge. When I asked hoim where

abouts he was fishing, he pointed out towards the horizon, I asked him how so as

his line was straight down the edge.

He wound in and in and so on for quite a time which made it obvious that indeed he was out a

fair old distance.Then he rebaited and cast back out in front of me, next he clipped a 2onz

lead on his line and dropped it down the edge. "Keeps the line down so the boats dont

pick it up.!!!!"    

There you go then I tried and applied   to carp fishing and still use it today.

How many times has that happened to you over the years, the money I could of made lol.

Back in the days before proper "bivvi,s" I went down millets and bought meself   a couple

 of pvc groundsheets   and some metal eyelets and a tool to fit em. You know where im

 going now dont you, yep I   put me brolly up in the garden cut the groundsheet up

 into a couple of low angled triangles,stamped the eyelets into place, top and

bottom, hey bivvi sides, God look at all those ideas gone to waste.

What about thsoe funny looking shaped boilies I   sold to that chap down the lake. Dear little sole   he   still  

wont talk to me till this day. I fished a small pond not far from where I   live, I   done very   well there. John was  

going to fish a competition at the weekend, anyway he wanted some of the bait I   had been using, would I

make him some, I used to sell a bit of bait to the lads that   come in the shop, so natruly I said yes, hmm.

I made the bait and he collected it from the shop while   I wasnt there.

That evening he marches in and   accuses me of being this and that. Top and bottom of it he didnt think

I had been catching on what i gave   him, something that I had been using and still use now, and have used

  for a good 10 years now   .   I   roll my baits out about 1/4 inch   dia then chop to about 1/4 long, about the

size of a     no4 pellet, then boil for about a minute. The daft thing is he still thinks I conned him, also the bait  

I   gave him was the actual bait I had made   up for a session a couple of days before, and had some good

fish   on it ????    

Five   6 years later NEWS FLASH use chopped baits use small baits blah blah . yea right . Go

back to 1975   we were rolling baits into tube like shapes , punching luncheon meat into tube like shapes.  

As I said its all been here before in one form or another.
